Last Twenty-Something Week to Post!

I'm at 29 weeks, people, crossing the linea negra to the thirties on Monday! I can hardly believe it. Sometimes I feel like she can't get here fast enough, other times I want to delay the pain for ALAP (as long as possible...that should be the new ASAP). I went to the doctor today and everything is fine. I don't have gestational diabetes, yay, I gained another mother$&%!ing six pounds, which puts me right around a hot 20 lbs. total, lame. Next Tuesday I get to have another ultrasound to make sure the placenta is out of the way and just to check up on cutie pie in there. So new photos next Tuesday!!! She has gotten so unbelievably active in the past couple of weeks it's amazing. Amos and I can see her moving in there, which is both weird and cool and earned me the nickname "Ripley" around the house.

My first week of maternity leave couldn't have happened at a better time. Monday morning I woke up with a sore throat, which quickly escalated into a full-blown upper respiratory infection. I'm at the runny nose/stuffy ears/stare at you with my mouth open phase. Tomorrow night I'm supposed to hostess, so I hope I don't look like a zombie then. That isn't attractive when you're trying to eat dinner, although I don't think I'm contagious, since Amos is untouched by the sickness.

All the house projects I wanted to do have been put on hold, obviously, but next week I'm going to TOWN on her part of the room. We are so close to having everything done that I can't wait to get it all set up and take some photos. Oh and I got my hair cut today, nothing drastic, just fixing it up so it can continue to grow longer without looking all choppy weird layers, but seeing as how I've got the zombie face I'll post a photo later. I LOVE the new hairdresser I used and will use her until the day I die...or actually probably till the day we move. Anyway I love her!

Sorry for the stream of conciousness post...being kind of stuck in the house/in my brain for the past few days has left me a bit loopy, and Amos won't talk to me anymore since I've made him rotate Junior and Shrek 2 in the DVD all week. Whatever, both those movies are hilarious! ;)

Sometimes I hate Vox. I had to redo this post and lost everything I'd typed, plus I can't get my photos to not be all wonky!

Anyways! I saw this project on Craftster, a forum I belong to, over a year ago. I knew when I saw it that I would make one for my child whenever I had one. I've been working on it off and on for a couple of months, and I finally finished it up tonight. It's bright and fun and I love it!!

Each page has a letter from her name plus an animal whose name starts with that letter. Also, on the back of each page I put a shape and its name. The front cover is flashier than the back, which just has that little tag, but to be honest I couldn't think of anything to put on the back cover!! I hope she likes it. It was really fun and easy to make, just took a little while, and I hope we have fun playing with it together.

So the fam is back in Bama today. We took Momma and Josh to the airport this morning after eating sausage links and thick waffles at a diner close to the airport. Despite the 40 degree temperatures and rainy, overcast, lame skies, we had a pretty good relaxing time. We shopped, walked, ate out, and vegged out while watching movies. Overall, good times, just more low-key than I'm used to. I think that worked for them too though. Can you tell that I'm still really tired, lol? I feel exhausted!!

In other news, I am getting close to the end of my serving career at Nola's. This weekend it's business as usual, since the college in our little village has graduation on Sunday. Next week, however, I'll be working with someone everyday instead of being the only waitress, and the week after that I'll have two shifts a week max with two shifts as a hostess that will continue probably up until the baby is born. Part of me is looking forward to the extra time. I have a list of huge projects that I want to finish before she arrives, including chores like cleaning out closets and fun stuff like finishing up the felt book I'm making for her. Also, lately my feet have had some pretty bad pains (real pains, not the typical aching and soreness that most people mean when they say foot pain) all the time, not just after work, so hopefully that will let up too. On the other hand, I'm generally less happy when I'm not working. Granted, I'll still be doing product photos, and housework, and all the other assorted little things I do, but I like to be busy. Frantic, almost. Honestly! I suspect that my listlessness and purposelessness will fade somewhat after Hazel's here, just because my activity level will probably jump back up to "frantic." I guess I'm just having some conflict over being a SAHM (really Work AHM, since I have always and will always do photos) that still needs some more exploration.

My mom and little brother are coming to visit today!! We're picking them up from the airport around 3.45 pm. I cannot wait! This is the first time he's been here at all, and it's been almost two years since my mom's been here, so we are going to have some major fun. I'd type more but I have to get this place looking good -- Amos did a lot of the heavy stuff while I was at work yesterday, but there are a few things that I still want to do before they get here.

Whew! I just got back last night and was too exhausted to do anything but go to bed. Well, eat first and then go to sleep! ;)

St. Louis was super awesome as always! Laura was able to come home from college for my whole trip, so she and Nancy and I had a lot of girly time, which is always appreciated and fun. We went baby shopping on Friday, and my pregnant self is so slow that shopping is the only thing we did. I got some really good deals though, and ended up with a few cute things for not that much cash.

The shower was sweet family fun. All the aunts and cousins were there, and we had a blast! Patty, one of Amos's aunts and hostesses, had about 58 games to play, and luckily none of them involved me wearing bows or hats or anything stupid. There was an adorable pink sugar-dusted cake, lots of good food, and even a watermelon basket (I secretly really love those things!!). It was so great to see everyone again, and the shower flew by. I wanted to take more photos, but I was pretty busy the whole time, so all I got was a crappy shot of the cake. It's seriously so lame I'm not even worried about taking it off the camera, but it's no big deal.

One of the best things was the huge SURPRISE I got right before we left for the shower. Nancy, Laura, and I were hanging out in the living room when the doorbell rang. We gave each other odd looks, since we weren't expecting anyone. Nancy opened the door to reveal my mom, stepsister, and her son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so shocked and elated that they came! It made the shower even more special, plus we went to dinner and hung out afterward until about 11 pm. I was just so overwhelmed, and it was awesome to get to see them <3

My last day there was pretty chill, although we did go to dinner and I beat Jim at backgammon with a triple gammon, which is a big deal for all you non-backgammon players. The trip back was really long, with me getting to the airport at 9 am and not getting home until like 7 pm, but it was well worth the super fun trip I had.

This type of tree is one of my favorites. I remember playing in my friend's yard as a kid in Auburn, always climbing this tree to smell the blossoms. I don't even know what kind of tree it is.

Hiccups

The baby had hiccups for the first time a couple of days ago <3

I was awake at about 5 in the morning, just laying there trying to get sleepy again. You know when you are still like that and you can feel your heartbeat seemingly everywhere in your body? I sleepily thought, cool, I can feel my heartbeat all down through my torso.

And then it stopped.

I thought, Holy CRAP my heart stopped!!! LOL! Then it started again, and of course I realized that couldn't be my heartbeat! I took my pulse and the rhythm was different than what I was feeling there, and I realized the baby had to be hiccuping. So precious!!!
